When they were born four years ago, Virginia and Catalina, two albino girls from Argentina, went viral on social media.
The good news that Jorge Gomez and his wife would soon become parents to two twin baby girls arrived in 2018. When the doctors informed the couple that they were expecting twin girls, they were overjoyed because they already had a son.
Gomez claimed that his wife’s pregnancy was entirely normal and that she had been going to the doctor frequently.
“When they gave us the news that we would have two babies, it gave us a lot of happiness, and when they were born, and we saw that they were albinos that happiness did not change at all. For us it is a blessing,” he told a local news outlet.
The father of three reported that there were no issues and that everything went without a hitch. Doctors, however, advised him to deliver the babies right away at the 36th week.
In the 36th week, the girls were born prematurely. They weighed a normal amount and were healthy. Virginia and Catalina were born two minutes apart. Each weighed 5.95 lbs, and the other 5.5 lbs.
The newborn girls’ milky white hair was what made them unusual. Nobody, including Gomez and his wife, had ever seen a child quite like that.
Consequently, the girls rose to fame in Argentina over night in 2018 and made headlines in numerous media outlets and newspapers.
When people saw the pictures of them, they were astounded to see two young girls with snow-white hair who had been born with it.
The twins, according to LV12, were born with albinism, a rare genetic disorder in which the skin lacks pigment.
People with albinism are born with either white or blonde hair and insufficient melanin pigment in their skin. Their coloring and vision are also impacted by this condition. Depending on the amount of melanin in their skin, some newborns even have ginger hair.
The first ever albino children to be born in Argentina were Catalina and Virginia. They were well-liked throughout the nation despite their rare condition.
“When they gave us the news that we would have two babies, it gave us a lot of happiness, and when they were born, and we saw that they were albinos, that happiness did not change at all,” Jorge Gomez told LV12.
He claimed to feel incredibly fortunate to be their father and to have never once considered that they were abnormal or different from other children.
“There were some precautions that we as parents had to bear in mind. For example, the girls are extremely sensitive to UV rays, which affect their skin and can cause sunburn and even cancer in a worst-case scenario,” said Gomez.
“So, we have to be extra cautious all the time and make sure that they are not going in the sunlight and are well protected from extreme weather conditions, especially hot weather.”
At age four, the twins are getting even more attractive as they mature.
